The Camden Town Burger King will play the 1982 epic as the result of a Twitter contest; B.K. tweeted that it would play the song on loop if the tweet received more than 1,000 retweets. It ended up with 6,600 and counting.

That sounds miserable

I think I could do it, and still keep my sanity... It’s a catch enough tune, but also one that fades into the background pretty easily.

Well, we know where Blue Mazda 2 went.

It could be worse. 10 hours of the intro and the song never starts. You keep waiting..and waiting..and waiting

What is the equivalent to WorkSafe/OSHA over there? Whomever they are, this is almost cause for filing a complaint as it no doubt will create unsafe conditions for employees and guests alike.

There should be a 10 hour version on Yotube somewhere that you can test yourself on. But the real test is, can you do all day of Nyancat and keep your sanity ?

As a former fast food employee who had to hear 15-song loops, a single-song loop (even if it’s a good song) is horrible.
In my case, I know stuff like “Islands in the Stream” and the Wings classic “Listen to what the man said” backwards and forwards. And Jimmy Buffet’s “Come Monday.”
Almost 25 years have passed and I still can’t shake them. Yet for some reason I can’t remember anything else they played.

BlueMazdaTwo would approve.

A couple lifetimes ago, w hen I worked at Taco Bell, every shift we’d hear Drift Away and I grew to hate that song. I imagine by the third replay I’d be ready to stab someone with something not very sharp.

This is also the reason why you never ever keep any song that you might even remotely like, as a morning alarm on your phone

I’m giving it a go:

Yeah, I’d give up after about two hours.

Real test: do it at 0.5 speed

What a great way to encourage a workplace shooting. Aside from the shitty food, yet another reason to stay away from Burger King.

Hah! Joke’s on you! This is the UK, there will be no workplace shooting.
There will be a stabbing, though .

I work for a retail company, and I feel so bad for our store people around the holiday season when they have all those holiday songs on repeat.
For our regular music, we did move from crappy covers to actual real music by the original artists a couple years ago and the brick and motor employees considered it just about the best thing ever.

Or you embrace it and sing along EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I used to work in a cube at an ad agency right across from our sound engineer. When he’d be working on the winter campaigns, it would often be very, very loud renditions of the same old stuff...but just the first 10-15 seconds. HUNDREDS of times in a row.
He was an old hippie type and I asked him how he tolerated it. He just smiled and I knew.

Everyone is too stoned in Camden to care!

That would absolutely cause workplace violence.

That’s genuinely awful. This meme has gone too far.

This version could work
08/09/2018 at 13:14 |
|
Well, it’s the UK, so it’ll be a workplace aciding, but same general idea.

We are members of the Dallas Zoo for the last 10 years. Every single time we visit, the entrance is playing the same jingle on the loud speakers. Every single time. Over the last 10 years.
I have often wondered how none of the employees sitting in the booths underneath those speakers have gone nuts and initiated a massive catastrophe. My theory is they give them free soft drinks and put thorazine in them.

No, no I’d definitely get stabby.

I learned this the hard way and ruined one of my favorite CDs one summer.

I think that version would be harder. Sure it’s a good cover, but I think it would be a lot more difficult to tune out.

Some jackass of a DJ once left MC Hammer’s “ Pumps and a Bump ” playing on the college station (which was pi ped into the cafeteria where I worked ) for 25-30 minutes, and I was ready to take an ax to the speakers. Much as I like Toto, the thought of ‘Africa’ on a continuous loop terrifies me.

Just throw this version in there once every hour or so and it would look like the church scene from Kingsma n.

Actually would not bother me. Working at a low end job like this would however.

And maybe a very spirited argument, interspersed with impolite words.

This sounds worse than the grocery store I worked at in high school, which only had 4-5 Christmas songs on a continuous loop all season. Wonderful Christmast ime came up about every 10 minutes or so. And it kept playing even during the overnight stock shift when the store was closed, until one night when someone jimmied the lock to the computer room and shut it off.

Maybe they could mix it up a bit with Weezer’s cover:
Then again, I don’t know if I’d know the difference. Weezer covers it pretty much note by note.
